Used to cheat people of lakhs, gang busted
Mahasamund. In the last one year, around 150 villagers have become victims of fraud by roaming around in Dhanbad, Ranchi, Gumla, Bokaro, Jashpur, Pathalgaon, in which they have admitted to defrauding an estimated amount of more than Rs 30 lakh. During the fraud, they used to make innocent villagers victims of fraud by pretending to be officers of the Central Government scheme, in which they used to even take photos from tablet computers. The accused were arrested by Surguja police on the information of an informer. 2 Apache motorcycles, 3 mobiles, 1 tablet computer and the amount of fraud amounting to Rs 24000 in cash were seized from the possession of the accused.
Surguja Police received information from an informer about 3 suspicious unknown persons roaming in a numberless motorcycle in Gangapur. On information, cyber cell and special team immediately went to Gangapur, cordoned off the three suspects traveling on two Apache motorcycles, stopped them and interrogated them. The accused named their names 1. Rohit Tiwari Father Late. Ramji Tiwari, age 25 years, resident of Gangapur Tiwari Tola Maniyar Ballia (Uttar Pradesh) 2. Krishna Kumar Pandey, father Jawahir Pandey, age 35 years, resident of Biramati police station, Pakdi district Ballia (Uttar Pradesh) 3. Gautam Pandey, father Hareram Pandey, age 30 years, resident of Biramati police station, Pakdi district Ballia ( Uttar Pradesh) told.
On the spot, due to not being able to tell the clear purpose of coming to District Surguja, Ambikapur, they were brought to the police station for detailed interrogation on the basis of suspicion, where during the interrogation, the three accused systematically went to a house under construction in rural areas and presented themselves as supervisory officer under the housing scheme. They used to cheat them of Rs 20-30 thousand citing irregularities and delayed construction in the house construction work. To make the villagers believe during the fraud, the accused used to take photographs of the villagers on the tablet computer they kept with them along with the cash in hand.

The accused admitted to cheating the villagers under Batauli and Raghunathpur police station area in Surguja district and also showed his photo in the tablet computer kept with them. Along with this, Rs 24,000 in cash was defrauded from them and about Rs 60,000 fraudulent amount was deposited in their bank accounts. Have accepted to do. Crime No. 31/2024 Section 420, 34, IPC against the accused on the report of fraud of Rs 25000 by the applicant Tilak Kerketta, resident of Paharpara Village Kot, at Raghunathpur outpost. And on the report of Suar Para Batauli, resident of Kelajo Kujur, applicant of Batauli police station, crime number 16/2024 section 420, 34, IPC. Following due process, the accused were arrested and sent on judicial remand. Correspondence has been initiated by contacting the concerned bank for depositing the amount in the bank accounts of the accused and getting it frozen. In the said proceedings, P.R. Bhojraj Paswan, R. Anuj Jaiswal, R. Ashok Yadav, Jitesh Sahu, Manish Singh, Vikash Singh, Sanjeev Chabey, Suyash Paikra were included.
