US supported terrorist groups: Iranian court

Iran. An Iranian court ruled that the US should compensate the families of Iranians killed in Iraq and Syria. Along with this, the US has also been given a two-month deadline.

News agency Xinhua gave this information quoting semi-official news agency ‘Fars’. The court said that the US will have to pay $ 48.86 billion in compensation to the families of Iranians killed while fighting ‘US-backed terrorist groups’ in Iraq and Syria. According to Xinhua, Judge Majid Hussainzadeh gave this verdict on Saturday in the 55th branch of the Tehran Court after hearing in two sessions complaints filed by 700 members of the families of the killed persons against the US government for ‘clear support to terrorist and Takfiri (extremist) groups’. The verdict said that as a result of terrorist crimes committed by US-backed fear-mongering groups, the plaintiffs have suffered significant material and mental damage and are under emotional pressure due to the death of their people. The court identified the terrorist groups as ‘Islamic State and Al-Nusra Front’ and said, ‘They could not commit such crimes in the absence of US cooperation and support.’

According to local media reports, under this decision, the US has been ordered to pay each plaintiff $10 million, i.e. a total of $6.98 billion, as compensation for the material damage caused to them. Along with this, each has been ordered to pay $20 million, i.e. a total of $13.96 billion, as compensation for the mental damage caused to them. The court also ruled that the US should pay $27.92 billion as punitive damages. According to local media, an appeal can be made against this decision within two months. Let us tell you that for the last few years, Iran has been sending its military personnel to Iraq and Syria to help fight against ‘terrorist groups’.
