US retains 25% duty on steel and aluminium imported from Britain

Business Business: The US has decided to maintain a 25% tariff on steel and aluminium imported from Britain, while the duty on similar goods coming from other countries will be increased to 50% from June 4. This was announced in a notification signed by US President Donald Trump on Tuesday.

This decision will give Britain some relief in the US market, while higher import duties will be applicable for the rest of the countries. The move is said to be aimed at promoting domestic industries and reducing the trade deficit.
