US duty has a direct impact on Indian seafood exports

Kochi Kochi: The 26 percent tariff announced by US President Donald Trump seems to be affecting the export of Indian marine products. There is a possibility of an immediate impact on the export of marine products from India to the US. In the year 2023-24, India had sent a total of $ 7.38 billion worth of marine products to the US.
K.N. Raghavan, General Secretary, Seafood Exporters Association of India, said that the US is the largest importer of Indian marine products and has a market share of about 35 percent. In such a situation, the implementation of this tariff will deal a serious blow to the industry. This decision may reduce the demand for other major products including shrimp and exporters may have to suffer losses.
