Uproar in police station over woman’s death in Assam, angry family members attack accused

Guwahati (IANS) | Angry family members created a ruckus at the police station after the suicide of a married woman in Assam’s Hojai district. During this, the husband of the deceased was attacked in front of the police. Which was taken into custody by the police for allegedly abetting the woman to commit suicide.

The mob also attacked the police, in which a woman constable and two police officers were also injured. Police have arrested seven people in connection with the attack.

According to a senior police officer, a woman committed suicide on Tuesday in Doboka area of Hojai district. The police seized the dead body and brought it to the police station.

The husband of the deceased has been identified as Abdul Malik. Considering it suspicious, the police took him into custody for questioning. Meanwhile, the angry family members of the deceased attacked Abdul Malik.

The mob also wreaked havoc on the policemen who came to intervene. In which other police officers including woman constable Deepika Bora were injured. As soon as the ruckus was informed, the SSB jawans reached and pacified the ruckus.
