UP woman alleges rape, exploitation of minor daughter and forced conversion

Bareilly (IANS) | A woman has alleged that she was raped and her 12-year-old daughter was molested in Baradari area of Bareilly district. The woman said that now they are being forced to convert. The woman has filed a complaint, in which she has said that three months ago she became friends with a woman named Iram Saifi. Gradually, both started visiting each other’s house.

In her complaint, the woman further said that Saifi brought people from a particular community to her house and allegedly forced her to have physical relations with him, Superintendent of Police (City) Rahul Bhati said on Sunday. He also made a pornographic video of her and blackmailed her.

Saifi’s brother Bablu Saifi also visited the woman’s house several times. The complainant said that he molested her 12-year-old daughter and also tried to rape her.

Last week, Saifi called the woman and her daughter to his house where in the presence of a ‘maulvi’, her father forced the mother-daughter to convert.

On protesting against the woman, the accused thrashed the woman and her daughter.

Police have registered a case against the unidentified cleric, Iram Saifi, Bablu Saifi and one other under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion Act.

Raids were conducted at the residences of the accused and his relatives but no arrests have been made so far.
