UP News: Leopard suspected of killing 6 children caught
Balrampur: The leopard suspected to have killed six children in villages adjoining the forest area of Suhelwa was captured on Wednesday, a forest official said.
Division forest officer (DFO) Sam Maran M said the cat, which was causing terror in nearby villages, has been tranquilised and shifted to a cage.
The forest department team detected the presence of leopard near Belwa village with the help of drone camera.
He told that after this the team caught the leopard by placing a nail in the bushes on the edge of the forest.
DFO said that the captured leopard is a five year old female leopard. The kittens will be sent to zoology in Lucknow or Gorakhpur.
The leopard is suspected to be behind the murder of six children in and around Belwa village during the last two months.
The forest department called experts from Delhi and Calcutta and deployed four teams in an attempt to capture the animal.
