Underwater metro tunnel will be inaugurated on March 6

Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit West Bengal and Bihar on March 6. PM Modi will inaugurate the country’s first underwater metro tunnel in Kolkata. According to railway sources, this metro will run between Howrah Maidan and Esplanade. Along with this, PM Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of connectivity projects worth crores of rupees in Kolkata. PM Modi will inaugurate the Howrah Maidan-Esplanade metro section, Kavi Subhash Station-Hemant Mukhopadhyay metro section and Taratala-Majerhat metro section of Kolkata Metro. Let us tell you that the underwater metro tunnel will run 32 meters below the level of Hooghly river. This will reduce the commuting time of people. It will run from Sector V to Howrah. The country’s first underwater metro rail running below Hooghly will connect the river and Howrah to Kolkata city.
Howrah Maidan-Esplanade Metro Tunnel of Kolkata Metro is the first tunnel built under any river in India. Along with this, Howrah Metro Station is the deepest metro station in India. Apart from this, Majerhat Metro Station (Tartala – Majerhat Metro section will also be inaugurated) is also a unique marvel of engineering. It is the only metro station built directly above the railway tracks and platforms. Kaushik Mitra, Chief Public Relations Officer of Kolkata Metro Railway, told Aaj Tak that this is a gift from PM Modi to the people of Kolkata. With this inauguration a long time dream is going to come true.
