Uncle sets fire house to kill 5 including 2 kids, victims narrowly escape in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district

Kaptipada: In a shocking incident, a man set fire the house of his elder brother with allegedly an intention to kill 5 persons including 2 kids when they were sleeping inside the house in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha yesterday night. However, the victims narrowly escaped. The incident took place in Gendagadia village under Kaptipada police station limits in the district.
As per reports, there was a family dispute between Tuna Mehuriya and his brother Tima Mehuriya of Gendagadia village. Last night, when Tuna Mehuriya was not at home, his son Manas Mehuriya and Manas’s wife, baby girl, sister and 2-month-old baby were sleeping inside the house late at night, when Manas’ uncle Tima Mehuriya allegedly barged into their house and set the house on fire to kill the entire family.
After the fire broke out, everyone tried to get out of the house but could not. When they screamed, the neighbors broke the door and rescued them.
Fortunately, the five people narrowly escaped. After getting information, the fire department reached the spot and brought the fire under control.
However, the accused uncle Tima has fled from the scene.
On the other hand, the affected family has filed a complaint with the Kaptipada police regarding this.
