Una: Case registered against man for raping and threatening a girl
Himachal Pradesh: The Una police on Friday registered a rape case against a man on the complaint of a 16-year-old girl who alleged that he was harassing her to convert her religion and marry him, officials said. The Class 11 student also alleged that the man threatened to kill her and her parents and fired bullets near their house, police said. A case was registered at the Una women police station under sections 64(1) (punishment for rape), 115(2) (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of the Indian Penal Code Act (BNS) and section 4 (punishment for sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), they said.
The victim said in her complaint that the accused, Shahid Khan, a resident of Amb, was acquainted with her for the past one-and-a-half years and used to call her repeatedly. Citing the complaint, the police officer said that she alleged that he assaulted and raped her recently. The girl also alleged that the accused threatened to kill her and her parents and also fired bullets near her house. Una Assistant Superintendent of Police Surendra Sharma said that a case has been registered against the accused and investigation is underway.
