Two villages of Sukma district became Naxal free

The Chhattisgarh government has achieved a significant milestone in its fight against Naxalism. Two villages in Sukma district, Keralapenda and Bodesetti, once considered a stronghold of Naxalism, have now become completely Naxal-free. With this achievement, the government has launched comprehensive schemes for the development of these villages. These include development grants of Rs 1 crore each to each village, paved roads, electricity, water, education and employment opportunities. This move is not only a major victory towards the elimination of Naxalism, but also a new beginning of peace and prosperity in the region.

Kerlapenda village, which was earlier completely isolated due to the influence of Naxalism, has now joined the mainstream of development. More than 500 people now reside in this village, and paved roads, electricity, clean drinking water and education facilities have been provided here. Local residents say that earlier there was an atmosphere of fear in the village due to Naxal activities, due to which people were hesitant to even step out. But due to the vigilance of the security forces and the effective strategies of the government, peace has now been established in the village. The government has started special schemes to increase employment opportunities here, which include skill development programs and small industries based on local resources.

Similarly, Bodesetti village is also moving towards new light by getting free from the shadow of Naxalism. More than 300 people live in this village, and now basic facilities like road, electricity and water are available here too. Earlier people used to live in an atmosphere of fear due to Naxal activities, but now the situation has completely changed. The development schemes of the government have not only won the confidence of the villagers, but have also taken steps towards making them self-reliant. Important initiatives have also been taken in the field of education, in which schools for children and literacy programs for adults have been started. SP Sukma Kiran Chauhan said that Sukma is the first district in the Naxal-affected area, where two panchayats have become Naxal-free. Keralapenda and Bodesetti villages have been declared Naxal-free. The nine Naxalites who surrendered today in Keralapenda village will be given an incentive of Rs 1 crore by the government. I believe that this will open the way for development in the state. The Naxal-free status of these villages will not only improve the living standards of the local people, but it will also become an inspiration for other affected areas. In another development, 16 Naxalites including a woman surrendered before police officials in Sukma district. Kiran Chauhan said, “Police and CRPF have intensified their efforts in Sukma district under the Naxal eradication campaign. As a result, 16 Naxalites surrendered today. There was a total reward of Rs 25 lakh on these 16 Naxalites. These included Naxalites from battalions and other divisions, including some Naxalites from Odisha.”
