Two police inspectors caught spying on former CM, CM reveals

Ranchi: Two sub-inspectors of the Special Branch of Jharkhand Police were caught on Tuesday evening at the Taj Hotel in Delhi on charges of spying on former Jharkhand CM Champai Soren. Both of them have been handed over to the police of Chanakyapuri police station in Delhi. Champai Soren has also lodged an FIR against them.

This was revealed by Assam CM and Jharkhand BJP election co-in-charge Himanta Biswa Sarma in a press conference in Guwahati on Wednesday. Himanta Biswa Sarma told the media that these two sub-inspectors have admitted that they were assigned the task of spying by a person holding a constitutional post. They were assigned the duty of recce of every activity of Champai Soren by Jharkhand Police IG Prabhat Kumar.

Sarma has termed it a very serious matter of attack on privacy and has demanded an investigation into it. According to Sarma, these two sub-inspectors of Jharkhand Police’s Special Branch were also following Champai Soren on August 18, when he came to Delhi. This time on August 26, when Champai Soren came to Delhi by flight from Kolkata, both the sub-inspectors were also on the same flight. After this, they also took a room in Hotel Taj on the same floor on which Champai Soren, his PS and his close people were staying.

He told that on Tuesday evening, Champai Soren’s people caught these two when they were taking their pictures. Sarma said that a woman also reached his room with these two. In such a situation, this could also be a case of attempted honeytrap. Both the sub-inspectors were handed over to Delhi Police, which is investigating this matter.

Sarma said that it is extremely objectionable that a Chief Minister himself puts a spy behind his minister. He expressed apprehension that Champai Soren’s phone has also been tapped. He said that this incident has made it clear how parties like Congress and JMM, who talk about protecting the Constitution, are engaged in violating the Constitution and attacking privacy. He has demanded an investigation into the entire matter.

Let us tell you that former CM and minister in the Hemant Soren government Champai Soren has announced to leave JMM and join BJP. He will officially join BJP in a program to be held in Ranchi on August 30.
