Two killed, three injured in Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon
Beirut: Two people were killed and three injured in Israeli airstrikes targeting a civilian car and motorcycle in southern Lebanon on Monday, military sources said. Lebanese military sources said an Israeli drone fired two air-to-ground missiles at a car traveling on the main road connecting the villages of Mes al-Jabal and Chaqra in the eastern region of southern Lebanon, injuring two people, one of whom later died of serious injuries, Xinhua news agency reported.
In a separate incident, an Israeli drone fired three missiles at a motorcycle near the Dubeh fort on the road between the villages of Mes al-Jabal and Chaqra, resulting in one death and two people being injured, including a child, according to the sources. Also, Israeli drones on Monday morning launched multiple airstrikes on five towns and villages in the border region of southern Lebanon, while Israeli artillery shelled nine towns and villages in the region.
Tensions along the Lebanon-Israel border escalated on October 8, 2023, when Lebanese armed group Hezbollah fired rockets towards Israel in solidarity with Hamas’ attack on Israel a day earlier. Israel then fired heavy artillery shelling towards southeastern Lebanon. (IANS)
