Two killed in Uttarakhand due to heavy rains, Badrinath-Rishikesh highway closed

Sirobagarh: Two people died and six were injured in the devastation caused by heavy rains in the hilly areas of Uttarakhand and near Peepal Kothi on Badrinath Highway. Seventeen more people were injured due to building damage. Badrinath-Rishikesh highway has been closed near Sirobagarh, due to which pilgrims going to Badrinath and Kedarnath have been stopped at Srikot-Srinagar and Kaliyasud. Srinagar Kotwal Hoshiar Singh Pankholi said that care is being taken to ensure that the passengers do not face any problem. The road has not been opened yet due to continuous debris falling in Sirobagarh. Uttarakhand Police has also blocked the social media platform route (through Chanti Khal). More information is awaited. According to the forecast of India Meteorological Department, hailstorm along with storm is expected in Rudraprayag and rain in many parts of the state till Monday.
