Two fake police officials arrested for extortion

KARIMNAGAR: Two persons were allegedly impersonating police officers and extorting money from vehicle owners on the Karimnagar-Vemulawada road. Based on a complaint lodged by an auto-rickshaw driver, Kothapally police swung into action and arrested the two suspects, Chekrala Raju and Gottemukkala Vijay, who are residents of Narsingapur village in Boinpally mandal if Rajanna-Sircilla district.

According to Sub-Inspector M Sambhamurthy, a driver, Azmat Pasha, from Kamalapur in Hanmakonda district, was taking four priests to the Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy temple in Vemulawada on Friday night. The group returned to Hanmakonda in the early hours of Saturday.
