Twitter announced, media organizations will be able to charge for every click on the article
New Delhi (IANS) | Elon Musk announced on Sunday that starting next month, Twitter will allow news organizations to charge per click for each article. With this new feature for content creators to monetise it, Twitter aims to help media houses amid the global recession that has led to layoffs and closure of programs by many organisations.
Launching next month, the platform will allow media publishers to charge users on a per-click basis, Musk said.
This will be helpful for users who want to pay for reading a particular article instead of taking a monthly subscription.
Musk said it would be a win-win for both media organizations and the public.
Earlier on Saturday, Twitter had said that creators around the world can now earn by signing up on Twitter through the ‘monetization’ tool.
Musk said that the entire income will go to the content creators and Twitter will not charge any fee for this for the time being.
Twitter CEO announced, we’ll keep 10 percent after one year, but iOS/Android subscription fee will drop from 30 percent to 15 percent in two years, so creators will still be in profit.
He added that for many, it is an important source of income and gives them more time to create great content.
Meanwhile, Twitter has also implemented ‘Community Notes’ on ads.
The goal, Musk said, is to make this platform as truth-seeking as possible, in other words, the least untrue compared to everything else.
