Tumkur: Two workers died of suffocation while cleaning the sump in a chemical factory

Karnataka : Two workers died of suffocation while cleaning the cesspit of a factory in Vasantharasapura industrial area on the outskirts of Tumkur on Wednesday.
The deceased have been identified as Pratap (23) of Magodu village in Madhugiri taluk and Venkatesh (32) of Tharoor village in Kallambella hobli in Shira taluk.
Manjanna (42) and Yuvaraj (32) of Tharoor are critically ill and are being treated at the intensive care unit of the hospital.
The four workers were working at an industry called ‘Larus Bio’, which manufactures chemicals. The four had descended into the cesspit to clean the chemical storage cesspit. It is believed that they suffocated and fell ill.
The four people were immediately rescued and rushed to a hospital. However, two died on the way. According to reports, two others are being treated at a private hospital. A case has been registered at the Tumkur rural police station in this regard.
