TSRTC introduces AC sleeper buses with free Wi-Fi

Hyderabad: State-owned Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) on Monday introduced nine air-conditioned sleeper buses equipped with free Wi-Fi services. State Transport Minister P Ajay Kumar formally launched the buses which will initially operate to destinations like Bengaluru, Hubli, Visakhapatnam, Tirupati and Chennai. TSRTC has procured 16 AC sleeper buses and nine of them have been pressed into service from Monday. Speaking on the occasion, Ajay Kumar said that TSRTC had placed an order for 760 new buses and out of them more than 400 buses have already reached the depot. TSRTC chairman Bajireddy Govardhan said that with the ‘Lahari’ buses, the corporation is offering state-of-the-art services to commuters at par with private operators. TSRTC vice-chairman and managing director V.S. Sajjanar said that 1,300 EV buses will be made operational soon. The AC sleeper buses are the latest offering from TSRTC, which has recently introduced new super luxury, non-AC sleeper and seater-cum-sleeper buses. Like non AC sleeper AC sleeper buses are named as ‘Lahari’. The 12 meter long AC sleeper bus has 15 lower and 15 upper berths. Provision has been made to keep water bottle next to the berth. Mobile charging facility is also provided. Keeping in mind the safety of passengers, the bus is equipped with vehicle tracking system and panic button. It will be connected to TSRTC control room. Passengers traveling in AC sleeper buses will also get free Wi-Fi facility. There are two CCTV cameras installed in each bus. There is also a reverse parking assistance camera. The front and rear of the bus will have LED boards to display details of the destination and stop, officials said. There is also a public address system in the bus to give information to the passengers. The vehicles will also have state-of-the-art Fire Detection and Alarm System (FDAS). In case of fire in the bus, the system sends an instant alert.
