Trump Suspends Green Card Lottery Program

New York: The US Green Card Lottery program has been temporarily suspended. It has been learned that the person who was involved in the recent shooting incident at Brown University entered the US through the lottery system. In this context, Trump has issued orders suspending the system. Green cards are issued to about 50,000 people from different countries through the lottery system. In accordance with Trump’s orders, the Secretary of the Interior Christine Lam said in her ex-post that she has sent a letter to the US Citizenship and Immigration Services Department to temporarily cancel the green card lottery system. Portuguese national Claudio Nieves Valentin .. recently committed a shooting at Brown University. Two students were killed and nine others were injured in the shooting. An MIT professor was also killed. Nieves was granted permanent residency in 2017.
