Training program on cultivation of grains, quinoa

ICAR’s Research Complex here in Leparada district organized a training program on ‘Cultivation and production practices of buckwheat and quinoa crops in the central hills of Arunachal Pradesh’ from 20-22 March.The program sponsored by All India Coordinated Research Project The objective was to promote cultivation of these potential crops in the tribal areas in the central hilly areas of Arunachal. Fifty farmers from Tirbin and Dari, SHG members from Nyagam as well as farmers from Aalo (w/Siang) participated in the program during which Dr. Raghuveer Singh, Head of ICAR Research Complex, presented a presentation on “Principles and Benefits of Potential Crops”. Farmers were taken on a visit to ICAR Research Farm at Gori for practical demonstration on nursery bed preparation; preparation of animal feed; Contour farming, mushroom bag preparation and vermicompost preparation to enhance their understanding about natural farming practices.
