Traditional remedies to cure diseases: Legal action against false advertising

Tamil Nadu : State Drug Licensing Officer (Indian System of Medicine) Dr. Y.R. Maneksa has said that if any traditional medicine is wrongly advertised as a complete cure for 56 diseases including HIV, asthma, TB, diabetes, then legal action will be taken. The press release he has issued in this regard is as follows: The Supreme Court has issued some orders on 26th in the ongoing case between the Indian Medical Association and the Central Government regarding objectionable advertisements. In this, instructions have been given to take legal action as per the law against objectionable advertisements regarding the treatment of 56 diseases. According to this, advertisements should not be made as traditional treatment for 56 diseases including appendicitis, arteritis, blindness, blood poisoning, cancer, cataract, deafness, diabetes, brain disease, uterine disorder, nervous system disease, epilepsy, mental illness, stroke, TB, HIV, asthma and polycythemia vera. It has been told that the general public can complain about such advertisements through email.
