Tourist vehicle overturns on Sambalpur–Rairakhol road, over 10 injured

Odisha: More than 10 passengers were injured when a tourist vehicle overturned on the Sambalpur-Rairakhol road near Kansa on Friday night.
The accident occurred when the tourist bus, en route from Bhubaneswar to Sambalpur, collided with a pole and then hit the bridge’s safety wall before overturning. According to initial reports, 17 passengers were on board the tourist vehicle at the time of the accident. The impact of the collision caused panic among those inside the vehicle, and several passengers sustained various injuries. Local residents rushed to the scene after hearing the crash and alerted emergency services.
Seven of the injured were taken to Sambalpur Sadar Hospital for treatment, while the remaining injured passengers were referred to Burla for further treatment. Hospital sources said that some of the injured are under observation, while others are being treated for fractures and other injuries. Driver fatigue suspected
One passenger alleged that the accident might have been caused by the driver falling asleep for a brief moment. The passenger stated that by the time the driver regained control, the vehicle had already collided with the bridge structure. The passenger mentioned that the vehicle was a 20-seater and that several members of the same family were traveling together. It was also claimed that the passenger’s mother-in-law sustained serious injuries in the accident. Timely assistance from a passing ambulance
It is reported that an ambulance, which was carrying a pregnant woman and heading towards Bhubaneswar, stopped at the accident site after seeing the overturned vehicle. The ambulance staff immediately provided assistance and helped transport some of the injured passengers to the hospital, aiding in rescue efforts before additional emergency vehicles arrived. Police have launched an investigation into the incident and were investigating the cause of the accident at the time of reporting.
