Tomato disappeared from the plate, prices of vegetables skyrocketed

Due to this, the prices of tomatoes have suddenly increased by four to five times in the last one week in the market. According to wholesalers, the effect of rain is visible on tomatoes as well as on all other vegetables. The prices of all vegetables have increased by one and a half to two times.
Om Prakash Jain of Gurukripa, a wholesaler of vegetables in Muhana Mandi of the capital Jaipur, said that due to the destruction of the produce of local farmers due to rains in the past days, the market did not reach and vegetables are coming from other states. Due to which the prices of all vegetables are high. The produce of the farmers around Jaipur used to come to the market for sale. It is not coming because it is destroyed. Most of the vegetables, including tomatoes, are coming from Bengaluru, Nashik, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Due to this the price has increased.
On the other hand, bitter gourd which was being sold at Rs.8-10 per kg is today up to Rs.25 per kg and the prices of okra, cabbage, ginger, lemon, ridge gourd, tinda etc. have also increased manifold. According to wholesalers, it will take at least a month for the sudden rise in vegetable prices to stop. Moolchand, a vegetable retailer, said that the tomato which he sold 15 days ago at Rs 20 to 25 per kg has now reached Rs 100 to 120 per kg.
