Tiger’s radio collar for the first time in Chhattisgarh

Raipur. Forest and Climate Change Department is constantly working for the development of forests including conservation of wildlife in the state. In this episode, the female tigress, who was rescued from Surajpur Forest Division on 28 March 2023 in the morning of 29 April 2023, after being completely healthy, has been released in a suitable habitat of Achanakmar Tiger Reserve under the established standard operating procedure of the National Tiger Conservation Authority. It is noteworthy that according to the intention of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, under the direction of Forest Minister Mr. Mohammad Akbar, special efforts are on to increase the population of tigers in Achanakmar Tiger Reserve. Under the able guidance of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Mr. Sudhir Kumar Agrawal, the tigress was released in Achanakmar Tiger Reserve today.
In this regard, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Mr. Sudhir Kumar Agrawal has told that the process of bringing 2 female and 1 male tigers from the tiger reserves of the adjacent states of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra is going on in Achanakmar Tiger Reserve, meanwhile from Surajpur Forest Division It is a happy coincidence that the rescued female tigress was released in Achanakmar Tiger Reserve. According to the standard operating procedure, on April 28, the tigress was fitted with a radio collar by a team of wildlife doctors and after that the female tigress was successfully released into a proper habitat. After being released in the natural habitat, a suitable monitoring system has been established to trace the movement of the female tigress for the next one month. For this, the field staff has been specially trained in Panna Tiger Reserve. A team of two research scholars and wildlife doctors from the Wildlife Institute of India has also been specially deployed. The villagers of the area have also been discussed and taken into confidence before being released into natural habitat. With the establishment of this female tigress in Achanakmar, the department is hopeful of increasing the number of tigers in Achanakmar.
