Three arrested in the murder of two sisters

New Delhi (IANS) | The Delhi Police has arrested the three assailants who shot dead two sisters at RK Puram in South West Delhi on Sunday. Officials have given this information As per reports, the arrested accused have been identified as Arjun, Michael and Dev, while their accomplices are still absconding.

The deceased, Pinky, 30, and Jyoti, 29, lived with their families in RK Puram area. Police said that his brother Lalit had a dispute with Dev over money.

Police said Dev used to work with Lalit and had borrowed money from him. However, Dev started working with Sonu in the area. On Saturday night, Lalit went to Sonu’s house to demand his money back, following which they had an argument. Later Sonu and Dev threaten Lalit.

A few hours after the incident, around 2:30 am, Sonu, Dev, Arjun, Michael and others gathered outside Lalit’s house. Arjun was leading the group. They started pelting stones at Lalit’s house and broke open the door with an iron rod. Seeing this, both the sisters of Lalit tried to calm the matter by intervening.

Police said, however, that the assailants took out pistols and started firing indiscriminately. Lalit fled the scene, while his two sisters sustained bullet injuries and fell on the road.

The police had received a PCR call around 4:30 am that two women had been shot at in Ambedkar Basti. Pinky and Jyoti were taken to Safdarjung Hospital, where they later died.

Initially, a case of attempt to murder including the Arms Act was registered. Subsequently, IPC section 302 (murder) was added to the charges. Police raided several places in the area and arrested the three accused.

During their investigation, the police found that the brother of the deceased had a dispute with the assailants over money. We are conducting raids to nab the other absconding accused, said an officer. Additional police force has been deployed in the area to prevent any untoward incident.
