Threat of Fungal storm..55 flights cancelled: Chennai airport closed till tomorrow morning
Tamil Nadu: It has been announced that Chennai airport will remain closed till 4 am tomorrow. Cyclone Benjal, heavy rains flooded the runway of Chennai airport. Chennai Airport Authority has informed that due to this Chennai airport will remain closed.
It has been raining in Chennai since last night. However, heavy rain continues intermittently. Due to the Fenchal storm, heavy rains are occurring in many districts including Chennai. Due to continuous rain, rainwater overflowed in many places in Chennai. Chennai airport is also surrounded by rainwater. Due to rain, the runway of the airport is flooded and flights are not able to operate. Due to this, 55 flights were canceled in Chennai today.
The airport management said that in this situation, Chennai airport will remain closed till tomorrow morning. Cyclone Fenchal is expected to make landfall by this evening or night, which will bring heavy rain and wind and the airport will remain closed till 4.00 am tomorrow.
