Thousands of Aspirants Take Home Guard Exam on Odisha’s Sambalpur Airstrip

Bhubaneswar: More than 8,000 candidates appeared for the Home Guard selections. This has become a challenge for the police to conduct the exam for so many people. This incident took place in Sambalpur district of Odisha. Candidates applied in an extraordinary number to fill the posts of Home Guards, which are less than 200. More than 8,000 people appeared for the recruitment exam.

Meanwhile, conducting the exam for such a large number of candidates has become a challenge for the police officers. In this context, on December 16, the written exam was conducted for the candidates on the runway in Jamdarpali in the morning. With this, thousands of candidates sat in a row along the length of the runway and wrote the exam. In this context, a large number of police officers and staff were deployed for arrangements and security. Also, the candidates’ exam was monitored through drones. This video clip went viral on social media.

On the other hand, the minimum qualification for filling up 187 Home Guard posts is 5th class pass. However, thousands of highly educated people applied. Graduates, engineers, computer science, MCA, MBA graduates, diploma holders, and ITI trained candidates from Sambalpur district competed for the Home Guard job. This reflected the unemployment problem in Odisha. In this context, the opposition parties were furious with the BJP government in the state.
