Incident Details

On the morning of 26th September, Police Station Incharge Jute Mill Inspector Mohan Bhardwaj received information that Ramesh Tiwari alias Babbu Maharaj (62 years), living near Bajirao Para Gandhari Pulya, has been murdered by some unknown person at his house. On receiving the information, the Police Station Incharge immediately informed the senior officers and reached the spot with his staff. Superintendent of Police Shri Divyang Kumar Patel along with Additional SP, Headquarters DSP and Cyber ​​Cell DSP, Cyber ​​Cell team also reached the spot. The crime scene was inspected by forensic experts, finger prints team and dog squad. The maid working at the deceased’s house – Smt. Sadhmati Yadav (60 years) resident of Maudhapara, Jute Mill told that when she reached Babbu Maharaj’s house to work at 8:00 am as usual, the gate of the front courtyard was locked from inside, then on entering the house with the help of neighbors, she found that Babbu Maharaj had been murdered. The police team thoroughly searched all the rooms of the house, in which the DVR and modem of the CCTV camera installed at the house were found missing, which the accused had taken away with the intention of hiding evidence. After getting the post-mortem of the dead body done and getting the short PM report, a crime was registered against the unknown accused in Jute Mill police station for murder and hiding evidence (crime number 420/2024 section 103(1), 238 BNS). The accused told that he was aware that Babbu Maharaj used to lend money to people so he suspected that Babbu Maharaj had a lot of money and after making a plan to steal the money from him, he entered Babbu Maharaj’s house by breaking the back door on the date of incident 25th September at around 7:30 pm and hid under the bed in the last room of the house. Babbu Maharaj came at around 9:00 pm and was lying down after cooking and eating food. At around 11:45 pm, seeing the opportunity, accused Deepak Yadav took out the drawer of the dressing table (made of plywood) and hit Babbu Maharaj on his head while he was asleep, due to which Babbu Maharaj woke up and there was a lot of struggle between the two. The accused hit him with a chair and finally killed Babbu Maharaj by making a noose of a towel and pulling it around his neck. Then he opened the cupboard with the key kept under the pillow and stole ₹10,500 kept in the cupboard. While leaving the house, he cut the DVR wire from the room with a cutter and took the DVR and modem in a bag and hid the DVR and modem bag in the grass on the side of the railway track behind the deceased’s house. The police have seized the DVR, modem and bag on the memorandum of the accused and the stolen ₹10,500 and the towel used in the incident, the clothes worn at the time of the incident have been recovered from the accused. Intensive police investigation

Under the leadership of Additional SP Akash Markam by SP Divyaang Kumar Patel, separate teams of Headquarters DSP Akhilesh Kaushik, Cyber ​​DSP Abhinav Upadhyay, Police Station Incharge Jute Mill along with Cyber ​​Cell, Police Station Jute Mill and other police station staff were formed, all were deployed in different tasks. Under the guidance of the Superintendent of Police, the formed team was keeping the crime scene safe and questioning the suspects in a systematic manner, examining the CCTV footage installed around the crime scene and investigating the murder from all angles. To search for the missing DVR from the crime scene, the police team searched extensively on both sides of the railway track behind the house of the deceased and was continuing the search for the DVR with the help of sanitation workers in the drain and nearby areas.
