Thirsty voters threaten, ‘No water, no votes’

Pune: Villagers of Kharewadi in Shivajinagar, Pune, facing water crisis, have threatened to boycott the upcoming Lok Sabha elections if the problem is not resolved. About 10 thousand people of the area are protesting demanding solution to the problem. He said that despite repeated complaints to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) officials, the problem was not resolved. People troubled by water shortage have put up banners in the area saying “No water, no vote”. They say that if the water problem is not solved, we will boycott the elections.” His warning has worried the leaders of political parties. There is election here on 13th May. A resident of the area said that they have been struggling for water for several months, but the situation remains the same. Their life has become miserable due to lack of water. He said that the situation is going to get worse after the onset of summer. Villagers said that most days they have to make do with water from tankers. One has to waste hours for this. He demanded PMC to bring the water supply back on track.
