There is no clarity in the Indian team’s batting: Robin Uthappa

Sports: Former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa has said that the Indian team lacks clarity in its batting approach when chasing big targets.
The second T20I between India and South Africa recently concluded. Chasing a target of 214 runs for victory, India was bowled out for 162 runs in 19.1 overs. South Africa defeated India by 51 runs.
Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill opened the batting for India. Shubman Gill was dismissed for a duck on the very first ball, which was a disappointing start. While captain Suryakumar Yadav was expected to come in, Axar Patel came in at number three, surprising everyone. However, this new approach by the Indian team did not work. Axar Patel was dismissed after scoring 21 runs off 21 balls.
In this situation, former Indian team player Robin Uthappa has said that the Indian team lacks clarity in its batting approach when chasing big targets.
He said: In the second T20I against South Africa, after Shubman Gill’s dismissal, Axar Patel came in at number three. When the Indian team had so many options in the batting lineup, Axar Patel was sent in early at number three. At that time, Axar Patel should have played aggressively and taken the pressure off Abhishek Sharma. But Axar Patel played cautiously and scored 21 runs off 21 balls, which did not relieve the pressure on the team.
Axar Patel was playing cautiously while wickets were falling around him. The Indian team’s approach of sending Axar Patel in early did not work. The batsmen should have a clear understanding of how they are going to play in international matches. There is nothing wrong with experimenting with the batting order in the first 6-8 overs. But when chasing a big target, the team needs a strong foundation. You cannot build a tall skyscraper without a strong foundation.
