Theft of Paver blocks : 4 Gurugram MC engineers to be chargesheeted

The Urban Local Bodies (ULB) Department has ordered municipal authorities to frame charge sheet against four officials, including a retired executive engineer of the municipal corporation, in a case of paver blocks theft from a helipad built at Leisure Valley Park here for PM Narendra Modi’s visit in 2016.

Orders have been given to frame charge sheets against the retired executive engineer and a junior engineer to the ULB Department within 15 days, while against two Junior Engineers (JEs) in a month.

In November, 2016 Modi held a public meeting at Leisure Valley Park Ground. A helipad was built at the ground by the municipal corporation. About 2.5 lakh tiles worth Rs 21 lakh were used to build it. However, these tiles were stolen after the event.

At that time, the work was done under supervision of Dharamveer Malik, the then executive engineer of the Municipal Corporation, Gurugram (MCG).

“After due examination, the government has decided to take disciplinary action against Dharambir Malik… Further, the government has decided to take disciplinary action against Krishan Kumar, the then Junior Engineer (now Assistant Engineer), Municipal Corporation, Gurugram as the both engineers have been prima facie held responsible for missing/theft of paver blocks at Leisure Valley Park,” the Under Secretary of ULB Department said in a letter to MCG authorities.

The letter also stated that the competent authority has also desired to send disciplinary action taken report against other concerned officials Bhupender, the then Junior Engineer, Mahboob Ali, Junior Engineer (HKRNL) to the government within a period of one month.
