The workforce needs to adapt to new challenges

Bhubaneswar: The unprecedented surge in disruptive technology like Artificial Intelligence (AI) has created both hope and fear in the human mind, but the need of the hour is to prepare the future workforce to adapt to such new challenges, All India Technical Council Chairman said. Let’s do. Education (AICTE) TG Seetharam.

Addressing the two-day HR Conclave ‘SOA Proxima-2024’ of SOA Deemed University on Saturday, he said that every time we faced new technology, it created some fear in the human mind. “But we have learned to adapt to it, and we must do so to meet the AI challenge,” he said.

Stating that the existence of AI was unknown a decade ago, Seetharam said it is successfully surpassing human performance in various fields including music, art and literature and is working at speeds unimaginable.
However, the AICTE Chairman reminded that mankind was earlier apprehensive about new technological developments like computers, mobile phones and the Internet but eventually learned to embrace them. He said AICTE is taking serious steps to adapt Indian students and faculty with the use of AI, from introducing courses in emerging technologies to conducting faculty development programs on AI and data science.
SOA vice-chancellor Pradipta Kumar Nanda, Reliance Industries Limited president (HR) Bijay Sahu and former managing director of Tata International Sandipan Chakraborty also spoke. Nearly 100 HR professionals from industries and university students participated in the conclave.
