The trailer hit them, the wife died, and the husband is in critical condition.

Raigarh. A woman died in a road accident in the district. The woman was returning home from work with her husband on a motorcycle when a speeding trailer hit their bike from behind. Following the accident, angry villagers blocked the road. The incident occurred in the Jute Mill police station area.
According to reports, Dayanand Mahant (38), a resident of Putkapuri village, worked with his wife, Sevati Mahant, at the Progress Tiles factory in Sahdevpali. On Thursday morning, around 8 am, the couple arrived at the factory on their motorcycle. In the evening, after finishing work, the husband and wife were returning home on their bike. While on the road from Patelpali to Tarkela, a trailer driver, driving at high speed and negligently, hit their motorcycle from behind. Sevati Mahant fell off the bike and was run over by the trailer’s wheels, resulting in her death on the spot. Dayanand Mahant sustained serious injuries in the accident.
Upon receiving information about the incident, a large number of villagers gathered at the scene. The angry villagers blocked the road and demanded action against the accused driver and compensation for the victim’s family. Police arrived at the scene and tried to pacify the villagers, but they remained adamant about their demands. Later, police officials assured them that a case would be registered against the accused trailer driver, after which the villagers ended the road blockade. The police are currently investigating the matter, and the injured man is receiving treatment.
