The renovation work of Kalwa Hospital will be done in a phased manner

Maharashtra: Thane Municipal Corporation’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa will be renovated to provide better health facilities to patients. This work will be done with a fund of Rs 60 crore provided by the state government and the work order has been given to the contractor for this work and the work will start soon. Since it is not possible to do the renovation work all at once, the municipality will do the renovation work in phases.

The Thane Municipal Corporation has Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa area. Hundreds of poor patients from Thane, Bhiwandi, Kalyan-Dombivali, Navi Mumbai as well as rural areas of the district come to this hospital for treatment. This hospital has five hundred beds. This hospital is becoming inadequate compared to the number of patients. Due to non-availability of beds for treatment, patients have to go elsewhere for treatment. Also, the hospital building has become dilapidated and water is leaking at some places. This is affecting the patients. Keeping this in mind, the Thane Municipal Corporation administration had decided to renovate the hospital. The state government had sanctioned a fund of Rs 60 crore for this work a few months ago. As soon as the funds were available from the state government, the Thane Municipal Corporation administration started the tender process. The work was to be started in December itself after completing the tender process. But due to some technical reasons, there has been some delay in completing this process and now after completing this process, the Municipal Corporation has given the work order to the contractor. Municipal Corporation sources said that the work of renovation of the hospital will start soon.
