The “My Mosque” initiative fosters a love for the mosque among children

Jeddah: An initiative called “My Mosque” has been launched to instill love and respect for mosques and religious culture in young children. This initiative is run by a community at Al-Rahma Mosque, also known locally as the Floating Mosque. Its primary objective is to connect children with mosques and Islamic culture from an early age and develop a positive attitude in them.
The initiative introduces children to mosque activities. They are informed about the mosque’s internal and external beauty, the importance of namaz and ablution, and engage in activities such as congregational prayer and Quranic learning. Colorful illustrations, stories, and interactive sessions help children understand that the mosque is not just a place of worship, but also a center of society and community.
The Imam of Al-Rahma Mosque explained that the “My Mosque” initiative aims to instill religious and moral values and social understanding in children. He stated that imparting religious and cultural knowledge at an early age fosters discipline, respect, and tolerance in children.
The initiative’s organizers explain that special sessions are held for children, in which they are informed about the mosque’s activities and social aspects in an interesting and simple way. They also learn about the story of the floating mosque and its community contributions.
Teachers and parents are appreciating this initiative. They say it is important for children to develop a passion for the mosque and religious activities. Many teachers have recommended its inclusion in schools so that children can regularly benefit from this initiative.
Community members say that this initiative is not limited to religious education. It also aims to teach children social values, community participation, and respect for others. This also fosters tolerance and a sense of collectivism in children.
The organizers of the floating mosque explain that the “My Mosque” initiative is a sustainable effort to connect children with the mosque and the community. They say that if children are drawn to the mosque and religious education from a young age, it will have a positive impact on their personality and thinking.
This initiative organizes various events and competitions for children. These include painting, storytelling, and other creative activities related to the mosque. Children are encouraged to participate and their efforts are appreciated.
