The murderer is in custody, the villagers heaved a sigh of relief

Korba. The murderer who called himself ‘Kalki of Kalyug’ had spread terror in the area. The accused who scared the whole village by writing threatening messages on the wall of the house after killing a person in Navapara village has now been caught by the police. SP Siddharth Tiwari, while revealing the case, said that the reason for the murder was an illicit relationship. The incident took place on the intervening night of 23-24 February, when an unknown person attacked 60-year-old Ram Singh Kanwar on the head with a sharp weapon in village Pakaria Navapara. Seriously injured Ram Singh died in the hospital the next day. After the attack, the terror in the area increased when threatening messages were found on the walls of the house.

These messages read “Ram Singh’s son Jagdish’s name, Kalki of Kalyug, lying is a sin”. After this, another threat was written on 26 February, which read “Next target Monu, Kalki of Kalyug, liquor banned, 5 more murders are going to happen in Pakaria, police should stay away from searching for the accused”. These threats put the entire village in panic. On the instructions of the Superintendent of Police, a 26-member special team was formed to investigate the case. The police investigated from every angle and found that the deceased’s son Jagdish was in an illicit relationship with a woman from the village and the same woman also had a relationship with the accused Vikas Yadav. When the accused came to know about this, he planned to kill Jagdish.

Two months before the murder, Vikas Yadav made a sharp weapon and went to Jagdish’s house on the night of the incident to kill him. But when Jagdish was not found, he attacked his father Ram Singh Kanwar, which led to his death. After the murder, to mislead the police, the accused wrote threatening messages on the walls and started calling himself ‘Kalki of Kalyug’. Apart from this, he also used to visit the village repeatedly to assess the fear of the people. When the police intensified the interrogation of Jagdish, the accused played another trick and tried to divert the suspicion in another direction by leaving a letter and a weapon at the crematorium. During interrogation, the accused told that he had planned the murder after watching the film ‘Kalki Avatar’. Influenced by the film, he prepared a complete strategy to commit murder, spread fear and mislead the police. But ultimately, after a thorough investigation by the police, he got caught in his own trap and was arrested.
