The Ministry of Coal has given additional charge to SECL CMD Harish Duahan.

Bilaspur. Harish Duhan, CMD of SECL, has been given the additional charge of CMD of Western Coalfields Limited (WCL). He will assume this new responsibility from February 1st. The Ministry of Coal, Government of India, has issued an order in this regard. According to official information, this additional charge will be effective from February 1, 2026, and its initial duration will be three months or until further orders. Harish Duhan assumed the charge of Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) on March 27, 2025.

According to management claims, under Duhan’s guidance, SECL has become the first coal PSU in the country to adopt the paste-fill technology in its underground mines. This technology is considered crucial for improving mining safety and efficiency.

Additionally, under his leadership, SECL, which had been facing long-standing land acquisition challenges for its mega projects, has acquired possession of a record 250 hectares of land since April 2025. This has provided a strong foundation for the company’s production capacity.
