The lover who killed his girlfriend by suffocating her face in the mud has been arrested.

Rajnandgaon. A young woman was murdered by her boyfriend after she pressured him to marry her. The police solved the murder case within 24 hours. The incident took place in the Harduwa area of Khairagarh district. The accused boyfriend has been arrested and sent to jail. The incident occurred on the afternoon of January 26th.
According to reports, on the day of the incident, while people were busy with patriotic programs celebrating Republic Day, the Khairagarh police received information about a young woman’s body floating in the water of the Harduwa dam. Upon reaching the spot, the police found multiple injury marks on the woman’s head, and the body was tied to a large stone with a dupatta (scarf). Suspecting murder, the police launched an investigation. They found the woman’s Aadhaar card and other medical prescriptions at the scene. These documents helped the police identify the woman as 21-year-old Roopa Sahu, a resident of New Ramnagar.
The police informed the woman’s family and began their investigation. Initial investigations revealed that the woman had been in a long-term relationship with Anand Verma, a resident of Harduwa. She had visited him in the village several times before. The woman was pressuring her boyfriend to marry her. To avoid this, the accused Anand Verma brutally murdered her. After the murder, he tied the body to a stone with the woman’s dupatta and threw it into the water. The body eventually surfaced, bringing the crime to light.
The police investigation confirmed that the accused Anand Verma and the deceased had a romantic relationship. Four months earlier, she had gone to his house to pressure him into marriage, which led to a major argument between the couple in front of his family. At that time, the accused had beaten her and chased her away. Since then, there had been continuous tension between them. It is reported that on January 25th, the deceased went to meet Anand Verma. After that, they went towards the Harduwa dam. There, the accused struck the victim several times on the head with a stone, causing her death. The accused was arrested and sent to jail on judicial remand.
