Relatives have come to his house to celebrate Christmas. Nirmala Tandi lit a cigarette to escape the cold on Friday night. After the fire was heated till night, the cigarette kept burning and the family members went to sleep. He woke up late at night when the condition of some family members worsened. Then other family members were woken up.
The condition of nine people including Saibo Sonwari, Himangi Nayak, Namita Nayak, Nandini Nayak was deteriorating. Other family members took him to SECL’s dispensary located in Vikasnagar. Where he reported complaining of eye irritation, headache and vomiting.
Seeing his condition, the hospital staff referred him to the Medical College Hospital. After treatment, everyone’s condition is said to be out of danger. Such incidents often happen during the cold season. People go to sleep after lighting a cigarette or burning wood. There have also been incidents of death due to suffocation due to smoke filling the house.
