The government is committed to the preservation and promotion of Chhattisgarhi cinema: CM Vishnudev Sai

Raipur. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai today attended the program “Journey of Chhattisgarhi Films on the occasion of Chhattisgarh Silver Jubilee,” organized by the Chhattisgarh Film Development Corporation at the Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium in the Science College campus of Raipur. On this occasion, the Chief Minister shared his detailed views on the development journey, achievements, and bright future of Chhattisgarhi cinema.
In his address, Chief Minister Sai recalled the contribution of former Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh in the formation of the Chhattisgarh Film Development Corporation, stating that he played a significant role in laying the strong foundation of Chhollywood. He also paid tribute to the late Shri Rajesh Awasthi, the first chairman of the corporation, saying that his untimely demise was an irreparable loss not only for Chhattisgarhi cinema but for the entire state.
Chief Minister Sai said that Chhattisgarhi cinema has entered a new era. He described the current chairperson of the corporation, Ms. Mona Sen, as an experienced, hardworking, and dedicated artist, expressing confidence that under her leadership, the all-round development of Chhollywood will be ensured. The Chief Minister said that in the coming times, Chhattisgarhi films will further strengthen the state’s culture, art, and identity at the national and international levels.
Referring to the historical journey of film production in Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Sai said that film production in the state began in 1957. He described the national award received by the film “Bhulan the Maze,” based on the novel Bhulan Kanda, as a matter of pride for the entire state. The Chief Minister said that the roots of Chhattisgarhi cinema are deeply connected to folk culture, folk tales, and social concerns, which gives it a unique identity. He said that Chhattisgarhi cinema is a living document of our folk culture and identity.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is working with complete seriousness and commitment towards the development of Chhattisgarhi films. In this regard, the Chitrotpala Film City is being constructed, for which an amount of Rs. 150 crore has been sanctioned. He expressed confidence that the future of Chhollywood in the state is bright and the government will provide all possible support to take the film industry to new heights. Chief Minister Sai extended his best wishes on the occasion of Chhattisgarh’s silver jubilee year, stating that this historic year is writing a new chapter in the all-round development of the state. He expressed hope that this program would prove to be a milestone in the development of Chhattisgarh cinema. Addressing the gathering, Mona Sen, Chairperson of the Chhattisgarh Film Development Corporation, welcomed Chief Minister Sai and expressed her gratitude for his efforts in the reorganization of the corporation. She also thanked Satish Jain, the producer of the Chhattisgarh film “Mor Chhainha Bhuiyan,” stating that the film has played a significant role in giving Chhattisgarh cinema a new identity. She reiterated her commitment to the overall and sustainable development of the Chhattisgarh film industry.
