The gold market is bustling on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya and weddings
Noida: Due to the auspicious time of Akshaya Tritiya and marriage, there is a lot of enthusiasm in the markets of Noida and Greater Noida. Especially in the bullion markets, there is a rush of customers to buy gold and silver jewellery. Traders hope that there will be a record increase in the gold business this year.
Despite the increase in the price of gold, enthusiasm is clearly visible among the customers. Sushil Kumar Jain, President of Sector 18 Market Association and General Secretary of Noida Jewelers Welfare Association, said that Akshaya Tritiya is considered very auspicious. On this day, marriage, housewarming, new business etc. are started without any auspicious time. Also, buying gold is also considered very fruitful. He said that thousands of marriages are going to take place on Akshaya Tritiya being celebrated on 30 April. In view of this, there is a tremendous increase in the demand for gold jewellery, wedding related purchases like banquet hall booking, clothes, bands etc.
Sudhir Singhal, chairman of Noida Jewelers Welfare Association, said that even though gold prices have reached Rs 1 lakh per ten grams, there has been no decrease in customer purchases. Jewelry booking has picked up pace, especially in families where there are weddings. Association president Rajendra Verma said that there is a tremendous buzz in the markets ahead of Akshaya Tritiya. This time about 30 percent more sales are expected as compared to previous years. After the Corona epidemic in 2020 and 2021, gold business worth Rs 300 crore was done in Noida in 2022, which increased to Rs 360 crore in 2023 and Rs 450 crore in 2024. This year this figure is expected to reach Rs 650 crore.

More than 500 wedding ceremonies are likely to be held in Noida and Greater Noida on the day of Akshaya Tritiya. All banquet halls are already booked. There is a crowd in the shops of clothes, jewelry and other wedding items on this auspicious day. Buying a vehicle on Akshaya Tritiya is also considered auspicious. According to the data of previous years, 213 vehicles were sold in 2022 and 512 in 2024. This time too, the figure of vehicle sales is likely to cross 500. According to religious beliefs, “Akshay” means – that which never decays. This day is considered a symbol of the beginning of Satya Yuga and Treta Yuga and the end of Dwapar Yuga. For this reason it is also called ‘Yugadi Tithi’. The fruits of auspicious works and charity done on this day remain everlasting.
