The DMK will stand with government employees: Chief Minister M.K. Stalin

Tamil Nadu: Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has assured that the DMK will stand by government employees.
A conference was held on Sunday in Nandanam, Chennai, by the JACTO-GEO organization to express gratitude to Chief Minister M.K. Stalin for announcing the promised pension scheme for Tamil Nadu government employees and teachers.
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin said: Government employees are doing excellent work in delivering government schemes to the people. Similarly, what teachers do is not just a job, but a service to humanity. Teachers are the main reason why Tamil Nadu is the second-best state in India in school education. The guaranteed pension scheme has been announced to honor the hard work of government employees and teachers.
The Tamil Nadu government’s schemes have contributed significantly to the reputation and influence of the DMK government. Keeping the welfare of government employees in mind, various schemes are being implemented by the Tamil Nadu government, such as continuously increasing the dearness allowance to be on par with the central government since 2022.
Tax allocation is low: The central government is reducing tax allocation and funds for projects for Tamil Nadu every year. The state’s tax revenue is decreasing due to changes in GST. In such an environment, it is essential to implement welfare schemes in all sectors. Currently, revenue is low and expenditure is high. This is the situation of the Tamil Nadu government.
The central government is deliberately and artificially creating this financial crisis. We are addressing the demands of government employees by dealing with the central government not only politically but also administratively.
For the past 22 years, government employees have been demanding the old pension scheme. The old pension scheme was suspended during the AIADMK regime. Government employees had to shed tears of blood during the AIADMK rule. Considering this, a guaranteed pension scheme has been formulated keeping in mind your interests and concerns, as well as the financial situation of Tamil Nadu. By implementing this scheme, the Tamil Nadu government will have to contribute an additional Rs. 13,000 crore to the pension fund. In addition, the Tamil Nadu government will have to contribute approximately ₹11,000 crore as its share.
This contribution amount will increase every year in line with the increase in employees’ salaries. The government will bear all expenses, keeping in mind the welfare of government employees and teachers. The opposition: Everyone knows that when Edappadi K. Palaniswami was Chief Minister, he insulted government employees. Those who have formed an alliance against the people of Tamil Nadu are also against government employees.
But the DMK is not like that. The DMK government will continue to fulfill the demands, aspirations, and concerns of everyone, even during the Dravidian Model 2.0 governance. Government employees and teachers should support us. The DMK will stand with government employees, he said.
The event was attended by Public Works Minister E.V. Velu, Health Minister M. Subramanian, School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, JACTO-GEO State Coordinators M. Bhaskaran and Thyagarajan, among others.
