The criminal who raped a minor got 20 years in jail
Mahasamund. In Mahasamund district, the court has sentenced a person guilty of luring and raping a minor on the pretext of marriage to 20 years in jail. The incident is of 2 May 2023. The matter is of City Kotwali area. According to the information, the family members of the minor lodged a report at Mahasamund City police station that their daughter went out with her aunt saying she was going to the market, but did not return home. Police registered a missing case and started investigation. During investigation, the police got information from the informer that a young man Raj alias Shailesh Jangade (21) had abducted the minor on the pretext of marriage. The police arrested the youth on May 5, 2023 and rescued the minor girl. A case was registered against the accused under several sections including the POCSO Act. The victim told during interrogation that she had met Raj on Instagram. After this, the conversation between the two increased and they fell in love. On 2 May 2023, Raj called that he wanted to marry her.
Saying this he called the girl to Raipur. The minor also went to Raipur after hearing about the marriage. From here the young man took the girl to Mungeli and raped her. The case was going on in the court. After a complete hearing, the court found Raj alias Shailesh Jangde guilty of rape in view of the evidence. The accused is a resident of village Goidra of Patharia police station area of Mungeli district. Special Judge Yogita Vinay Wasnik has punished Raja alias Raj alias Shailesh Jange with 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 under Section 6 of the POCSO Act. If he does not pay the fine, he will have to face additional imprisonment of 6 months. Similarly, in the kidnapping case, the youth convicted under Section 366 has been punished with 5 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1,000 and under Section 366, 7 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 2,000. In case of non-payment of fine, he will have to undergo additional imprisonment of one and two months. All sentences will run concurrently.
