The company whose bridge collapsed in Bihar also has projects in Gujarat

Ahmedabad (IANS) | The recent collapse of an under-construction bridge in Bihar’s Bhagalpur has raised concerns in Gujarat as the same company is involved in two important bridge projects in the state. SP Singla Construction Pvt. Ltd. had built that bridge at Bhagalpur. The company has sought an in-depth inspection of Gujarat’s bridges by a third-party expert team before their inauguration.

SP Singla Construction is a Haryana based construction firm active in the construction industry since 27 years. The current Board Members and Directors of the company are Sat Paul Singla, Prem Latha, Deepak Singla, Rohit Singla and Nikita Gandhi. The company is registered at Delhi Registrar’s Office while operates from its Corporate Office in Haryana. It is classified as a ‘Company Limited by Share’.

The company has two important projects in Gujarat. One Okha-Bet Dwarka Signature Bridge, estimated to cost Rs 962 crore. The project involves the construction of a 3.73 km, four-lane cable-stayed Signature Bridge connecting Okha and Bet Dwarka.

The other project is the Dabhoi-Sinor-Malsar-S Road Narmada River Bridge with a length of 900 meters and a project cost of Rs 165 crore.

Both projects are nearing completion, and concerns have arisen regarding the quality of bridges built by the company following a bridge collapse in Bihar.

Not only this, the Atal Bridge in Ahmedabad, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, also developed cracks only seven months after it was opened to the public.

Cracks were found in the glass base of the Atal Bridge in Ahmedabad in April 2023, following which municipal experts inspected. The foot overbridge connecting the eastern and western banks of the Sabarmati river suddenly cracked in one of the eight pieces of glass between Ellis Bridge and Sardar Bridge.
