The aim is to rule Agartala in the 2028 elections: Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma

Tripura: Tipra Motha Party founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma announced on Wednesday, March 11, that his party aims to rule Agartala in the 2028 assembly elections, with the post of Chief Minister going to a tribal leader, the outcome of which will be influenced by the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections.
Addressing a large election rally in Killa in Gomati district, Pradyot stressed the importance of the TTAADC elections.
“On one side, there’s Tipra Motha and I, speaking for the future of our indigenous people. On the other side, there’s the BJP. Now, it’s up to you to decide who you’ll support. Today’s meeting has already set the tone; we know who will win, and the elections are almost a formality. Tripura and Agartala belong to the indigenous people. We must unite to secure the future of our next generation and stand firmly against the BJP,” he stressed.
Pradyot criticized the BJP, alleging that its policies are designed to keep the tribal community poor.
“BJP leaders send their children to English-medium schools, but they prevent our tribal children from doing so. What kind of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ is this? Because of their negligence, village council elections haven’t been held, and our poor tribal communities are constantly suffering. Funds meant for the council are being diverted elsewhere. They may claim they will dominate the District Council, but in reality, they are preparing for defeat. In 2028, Tipra Motha will rule Agartala, and the Chief Minister will be from the tribal community. The upcoming District Council elections will decide who becomes Chief Minister. A tribal leader in that role will ensure a better future for our next generation,” he said.
He concluded by emphasizing unity and prioritizing community over political rivalry. “For me, community comes first, and party comes second. We must stand together, because the BJP will try to use its money power to divide us,” Pradyot said.
