Thane residents are facing water crisis

Maharashtra: Due to the breakdown of the power supply system of the water supply center located at Temghar, only four pumps are running, reducing the supply of 50 million liters of water to the city. Due to this, water supply in the city remained disrupted on Thursday and even after repairs, water will be supplied at low pressure at night. This has created a water crisis for Thane residents. 585 million liters of water is supplied daily through four sources in the Thane Municipal Corporation area. Out of this, 250 million liters of water is supplied through the Mahanagarpalika Yojana. This source is considered important for the water supply of the city. This water is supplied to the entire municipal area except Diva. For this scheme, water is lifted from the Pise Bandhara of Bhatsa Dam. Further, this water is supplied to the citizens of the city from the Temghar Water Purification Center.

Meanwhile, the power supply system of the Temghar Water Purification Center went bad on Wednesday night. Due to this, only four pumps are running there. As a result, the city is getting only 200 million liters of water instead of 250 million liters from the municipal scheme. There is a shortage of 50 million liters of water. Due to this failure, the city’s water supply has been disrupted since Wednesday night. On Thursday afternoon and night, water was supplied to the city with low pressure. Due to this, Thanekars had to face water crisis. The water supply department has said that the work of repairing the power system is going on on a war footing.
