Thane: One person died, 8 injured after vehicle fell into the valley

Maharashtra: One person died and 8 people including the driver were injured in an accident in which the driver of a private vehicle lost control near the bridge of Upper Vaitrana Dam on Vihgaon Khodala Road in the taluka, causing the vehicle to fall into a ravine about 50 feet deep. Another major accident was averted as the vehicle stopped near the dam bank.

Dadu Jethu Zugre (69), a local resident and retired railway employee of Mal Gavtha Basti, 14 km from Kasara, died in the accident. He had left for Khod village in Palghar district with his family on Tuesday. The driver lost control of the vehicle at a turn near Vihgaon and the vehicle fell straight down by 50 feet. On the lower side, the vehicle collided with a rock on the bank of Upper Vaitrana Dam. On receiving information about the incident, local villagers and disaster management team rushed the injured to Kasara Primary Health Center for treatment.

7 people of the Zugre family, including driver Suresh Thombre, were injured. The names of the injured are Sanya Thackeray, Bharti Zugre, Usha Zugre, Ati Zugre, Ankita Zugre, Aditya Zugre, Bita Zugre and the condition of two people is critical. Along with them, 2 others are being treated at a private hospital in Khardi. On receiving information about this incident, Shahpur Sub-Divisional Police Officer Milind Shinde, Naib Tehsildar Vasant Chaudhary, Police Inspector Suresh Gavit, Circle Officer Sandeep Chaudhary, Police Constable Devendra Shirasath, Rajesh Mali, Police Naik Umesh Chaudhary, Constable G.S. Bodke, Pandharinath Borse etc. reached the spot and helped.
