Thalapathy Vijay fans shocked: Last film ‘Jana Nayakan’ caught in censor controversy

Entertainment: Thalapathy Vijay’s much-awaited final film, “Jana Nayakan,” is just two days away from release, as the Censor Board has refused to grant certification after suggesting some cuts and mutes in the final copy.
Despite submitting the film for censor scrutiny on December 18th, the team has still not received approval, and this significant delay has jeopardized release plans. While Vijay’s fans are upset with the last-minute disruptions, the production house has sought the High Court’s intervention to ensure a smooth release.
The lawyer representing the producer alleged that the team made the necessary changes suggested by the Board and promptly resubmitted the edited copy on December 24th. However, the CBFC did not respond for nearly ten days and sent a communication on January 5th stating that the decision to send the film to the Revising Committee (an appeals body) was based on an anonymous complaint regarding the film’s content.
After hearing arguments, the court directed the CBFC to produce all relevant records and adjourned the hearing until Wednesday. These events have unsettled fans, who are now eagerly awaiting a final decision, as the release date remains in limbo.
If the court’s order is not in the film’s team’s favor, it would be a major setback. The film could be postponed to a later date, causing significant disruption in trade circles, as theater agreements across Tamil Nadu have already been finalized. Advance bookings have already begun, and many shows are filling up rapidly in the overseas and domestic markets.
Amidst the significant difficulties facing the release of this major project, the CBI has summoned Vijay to investigate the Karur stampede incident, and fans allege this is a deliberate attempt by the ruling party to tarnish his image before the film’s release.
A lot of money and reputation are at stake in this film. With time running out, fans are hoping that all issues are resolved in the next two days so that the film can have a strong opening on time and pay a fitting tribute to Vijay at the box office. We’ll have to wait a few more hours to find out what happens next.
