Tension prevails in Ratanpur in protest against the healing meeting

Surguja. A three-day healing meeting (prayer program) organized by the Christian community in Ratanpur village, under the Balampur Gram Panchayat of the Batauli district, became embroiled in controversy. On the second day of the program, villagers and local Hindu organizations strongly opposed it, calling it a conspiracy to convert. The atmosphere in the village quickly became tense, forcing the administration to intervene.

Villagers stated that such gatherings were an attempt to spread religious discord and mislead people into converting. Several villagers alleged that the organizers had previously held similar events, in which people were encouraged to convert under the guise of “curing the sick.” Villagers stated that such events were posing a threat to the peace and social unity of the village.

Activists from several Hindu organizations and villagers gathered in large numbers to protest the healing meeting and raised slogans. During the protest, representatives submitted a written application to the Tehsildar, Batauli, demanding an immediate ban on the program. He said that the administration should keep a strict watch on such events so that religious harmony is not disturbed.
