Tennis Legend Leander Paes Joins BJP Ahead of West Bengal Elections

New Delhi: Indian tennis player and legendary player Leander Paes joined the Bharatiya Janata Party today. Leander joined the party in the presence of senior party leaders and Union Minister Kiren Rijiju. It seems that Paes took this decision in the backdrop of the West Bengal Assembly elections. A few days ago, Paes met BJP national president Nitin Nabin in Kolkata. This led to speculations that the tennis star would join the BJP. Leander Paes joined the Trinamool Congress Party in 2021. He campaigned on behalf of the party in the 2022 Goa elections. But Pace did not directly contest those elections.

Paes spoke after joining the BJP. He said that he has played for the country for 40 years of his life, represented the country in many tournaments, played in the Davis Cup and Olympics and brought honor to himself, his family and the country. He said that he is now entering a new field, his brothers have entrusted him with responsibility, and he wants to serve this country and its youth. He thanked Prime Minister Modi, Minister Amit Shah and Natin Nabin for entrusting him with the responsibility of public service.
